The story's rich world originated in the novels (the wordy kind, not the graphic kind), written by legendary Japanese horror author Hideyuki Kikuchi and illustrated by also-legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano. The Story Vampire Hunter D is a classic franchise that has spanned over two decades, and it's still going strong. In this guide we finally give the Devil his due, and pay all deserved praise to D. Even the relatively few anime fans that have seen the movies usually don't know just how epic the franchise is, and how historically significant the work is to the anime industry and the gothic horror genre as a whole. Sadly, there are a large number of anime fans that hardly know anything about the Vampire Hunter D series.
